Designed for safer and repeatable furniture finishing, it is classified by the Innovation Radar as market ready.<\/p>\n<p>The system was developed by the ai2 Institute, the Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Inform\u00e1tica (ITI) and CIGIP, at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia, within the European <a href=\"https:\/\/cigip.webs.upv.es\/en\/ai-prism-en\/\">AI-PRISM<\/a> project. The robot paints by imitating human movement. The operator guides it with wireless controllers in virtual or mixed reality, or in the real workspace, with no programming skills needed, and the movements are stored for reuse. The technology has been tested at the furniture manufacturer Andreu World.<\/p>\n<p>Its benefits include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>helping furniture manufacturers preserve the know-how of their painting specialists;<\/li>\n<li>easy and intuitive programming;<\/li>\n<li>less dependence on highly specialised skills;<\/li>\n<li>fewer paint defects and shorter process times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CIGIP thanks its researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/dgonely\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Gonz\u00e1lez El Yachouti<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/laumorui\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laura Moya Ruiz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/ffraile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Francisco Fraile<\/a>.
