Supply chains are the backbone of a circular economy and, if designed well, they improve secondary material flows throughout the recycling process.<\/p>\n<p>The tool supports companies in making better decisions to foster circularity:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it uses advanced algorithms and data analysis to simulate scenarios and find the most cost-effective and efficient supply chain design and operations for moving secondary materials through the recycling process;<\/li>\n<li>it determines optimal inventory levels of secondary materials across supply chain stages to meet demand while minimising costs;<\/li>\n<li>it optimises transport through carrier and mode selection, routing and scheduling;<\/li>\n<li>it generates custom reports and tracks performance metrics over time to identify areas for improvement and refine the recycling process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The tool was developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/rpoler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ra\u00fal Poler<\/a>, Javier Cuartas Micieces, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/ffraile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Francisco Fraile<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/carbama3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carlos Baviera Mart\u00ednez<\/a>.
