Description:<\/span><\/p>

World-class competitiveness of European enterprises, including SME\u2019s, strongly depends, in the future, on their ability to concretise massively and rapidly networked dynamic organisations. New Technologies for Interoperability within and between enterprises have to emerge to radically solve the recurrent difficulties \u2013largely due to the lack of conceptual approaches- encountered to structure and interlink enterprises\u2019 systems (information, production, decision).<\/p>

Today, research on interoperability of enterprise applications does not exist as such at the European level. As a result of IST Thematic Network IDEAS1<\/span>, the roadmap for interoperability research emphasises the need for integrating three key thematic components:<\/p>

  • Ontology to identify interoperability semantics in the enterprise,<\/li>
  • Enterprise Modelling to define interoperability requirements and to support solution implementation,<\/li>
  • Architectures and Enabling technologies to provide implementation solutions,<\/li><\/ul>

    INTEROP aims to extract value from the sustainable integration of these thematic components and to develop industrially significant new knowledge. Network\u2019s role will be to create the conditions of a technological breakthrough to avoid that enterprise investment be simply pulled by the incremental evolution of IT offer.<\/p>

    To ensure efficient industrial impact, in particular through future standardisation, INTEROP proposes, as a validation and dissemination strategy, to have strong\u00a0 interactions with IPs in the same domain of interest, specifically with ATHENA2<\/span>\u00a0in which the major enterprise-oriented IT providers are involved. The Joint Programme of Activities aims to :<\/p>

    • integrate the knowledge in Ontology, Enterprise Modelling, and Architectures to give sustainable sense to interoperability,<\/li>
    • structure the European research community and influence organisations\u2019 programmes to achieve critical research mass,<\/li>
    • animate the community and spread industrially significant research knowledge outside the network.<\/li><\/ul>

      Metrics are systemically associated with the activities.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
