Josefa Mula, researcher in the national elite<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It is the 4th most cited in Spain in the discipline of industrial engineering.<\/i><\/b> It belongs to the Production Management and Engineering Research Center of the Alcoy Campus of the UPV.<\/i><\/b><\/p>

The ranking, prepared by the Group for the Dissemination of the h-Index (DIH) from the database on scientific publications ISI Web of Knowledge, establishes a specific classification for each of the disciplines framed within the ten areas of knowledge considered: agriculture, biology, materials science, health sciences, earth sciences, physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics and chemistry.<\/i><\/b><\/p>

The ranking, which was last updated in the first quarter of 2021 in the fields of agriculture, materials science, earth sciences, computer science, engineering and mathematics, details both the h-index of each researcher and his h-factor, i.e. the ratio between the h-value of the scientist and the average of the ranking of the field to which he belongs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Avelino Corma (UPV-CSIC), Spanish scientist with the best H index.<\/b><\/h2><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Avelino Corma<\/b>, research professor at the Spanish National Research Council at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, a joint UPV-CSIC center), not only leads the field of physical chemistry but is also the Spanish scientist with the best h-index. His h-index of 152 is the only one in Spain above 130. Also national leaders in their respective fields are Jaime Lloret, researcher at the Research Institute for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (IGIC) at the Gandia UPV campus (in telecommunications), and Rub\u00e9n Ruiz, researcher at the Joint University Institute of Information Technology and director of the UPV Information Technologies and Resources Area (in operations research and management).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Along with the three researchers who lead their disciplines, other UPV scientists appear in second position in their respective fields: Ra\u00fal Payri, from the CMT-Thermal Motors Institute (in mechanical engineering); Sebasti\u00e1n Martorell, researcher of the Environment and Industrial Safety Group (in industrial engineering); and Juan Carlos Cano, from the Computer Networks Group (in telecommunications). Completing the national podiums in their disciplines are Hermenegildo Garc\u00eda (with an outstanding h-index of 102, which places him in the national top 20), from ITQ (in physical chemistry); Francisco Javier Salvador, from CMT-Motores T\u00e9rmicos (in mechanical engineering); Jos\u00e9 Duato, from the Parallel Architectures Group (in computer theory and methods); and Sandra Sendra, from IGIC (in telecommunications). In addition, Jordi Pay\u00e1, from the Institute of Concrete Science and Technology (ICITECH), (in construction and building technologies); Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Serrano, from CMT-Thermal Engines (in mechanical engineering);<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and Josefa Mula Bru, from the Production Management and Engineering Research Center (in industrial engineering); fourth, all three, in their respective fields. Along with all the above, in the national top 5 there are also 6 other UPV scientists: Luis Mar\u00eda Guanter, from the University Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (IIAMA), (in remote sensing); Jos\u00e9 Capmany, from the University Institute of Telecommunication and Multimedia Applications (in optics); M\u00aa Victoria Borrachero, from ICITECH (in construction and building technologies); Jaime G\u00f3mez, from IIAMA (in water resources); Francisco Payri, from CMT-Motores T\u00e9rmicos (in mechanical engineering); and Alberto Jos\u00e9 Ferrer, from the Multivariate Statistical Engineering Group (in probability and statistics).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If the list is extended to the top ten in each discipline, the UPV has 13 scientists ranked in addition to those already mentioned, making a total of 32 among the top 10 in Spain in 21 disciplines (Mart\u00ed, Lloret, Martorell and Ferrer are each among the elite in two different fields). Sixth at the national level are Amparo Chiralt, from the University Institute of Food Engineering for Development (in food science and technology); Javier Mart\u00ed, from the University Institute of Nanophotonic Technology (in electronics and electrical engineering); V\u00edctor Yepes Piqueras, from ICITECH (in civil engineering); Alfred Peris, from the University Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (in mathematics); and Alberto Jos\u00e9 Ferrer, from the Multivariate Statistical Engineering Group (in interdisciplinary mathematical applications). In seventh place are Ricardo Flores, from the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants (IBMCP), (in virology); Manuel Agust\u00ed, from the Mediterranean Agroforestry Institute (in horticulture); Jaime Gimeno, from CMT-Motores T\u00e9rmicos (in mechanical engineering); and Pedro Albertos, from the Department of Systems Engineering, Computers and Automation (in control and automation systems);<\/span>and in eighth place, Ram\u00f3n Mart\u00ednez M\u00e1\u00f1ez, secretary of the Inter-University Institute for Molecular Recognition Research and Technological Development (in multidisciplinary chemistry); and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Monz\u00f3, from ICITECH (in construction and building technologies).
