CIGIP researchers presented three papers from the European MaaSAI project at the 32nd ICE/IEEE ITMC 2026 (International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation), held in Porto (Portugal) from 22 to 24 June 2026.
- Business Viewpoint for Manufacturing-as-a-Service Architectures: The MaaSAI project, by Andrés Boza, Miguel Ángel Mateo-Casalí, Javier A. Cuartas-Micieces and Llanos Cuenca. It proposes a four-step methodology linking stakeholders, business processes, value drivers and implementation barriers, validated with seven pilot companies. Operational efficiency emerged as the leading value driver, followed by customer satisfaction and profitability.
- Operational Machine Passport: A Multi-Protocol Platform for Industrial Observability, by Miguel Ángel Mateo-Casalí, Andrés Boza, Llanos Cuenca and Raúl Poler. It presents an open-source platform that gives every industrial machine a living “passport”: it unifies its OPC UA and MQTT signals, identifies the root cause of issues and rebuilds its identity, status and history on demand.
- The Use of AI in Manufacturing as a Service Environments: Systematic Literature Review, by Mateo Del Gallo, Beatriz Andrés, Ana Mengual and Filippo Ciarapica, in collaboration with the Università Politecnica delle Marche. It reviews how artificial intelligence is being integrated into Manufacturing-as-a-Service environments.
